“My truck is my mini office! I travel around my sector from Saint-Hyacinthe to Saint-Guillaume to ensure the natural gas distribution network is in good condition. I love being autonomous and working on the road.”
Being an Operation Technician means
Ensuring the public’s safety by following the parameters imposed by the Régie de l’énergie du Québec. Carrying out activities in line with the operation of the gas distribution network regarding emergency response, preventive maintenance, the corrective program, the location of pipelines and customer service calls.
Benefiting from comprehensive training
After being hired, technicians receive training and do an 18-month internship at the École de technologie gazière in Boucherville.
Working in collaboration
“I have the opportunity to meet lots of people with whom I develop strong ties. For example, in the event of an emergency, I work with firefighters to secure the premises and examine the scope and nature of the problem. I can even be called on to stop a leak! It obviously takes excellent judgement and the ability to react adequately and quickly.”
