June 14, 2010 - Press releases
Montreal, June 14, 2010 – On day one of Pedal for Kids, a very special Montreal event that Énergir has supported for nearly a decade, the organization has announced that it is committed to contributing $150,000 over the next five years toward the construction of the new Montreal Children's Hospital of the McGill University Health Centre, in conjunction with The Best Care for Children campaign.
Louise Dery-Goldberg, President of the Montreal Children's Hospital Foundation, and Guylaine Lehoux, Vice President, Growth, at Énergir, proudly made the announcement about this donation earlier today, a few minutes before the Énergir team started off their "Mighty Bike" ride through the streets of downtown Montreal to raise funds for Pedal for Kids.
For Guylaine Lehoux, Énergir's contribution to the Montreal Children's Hospital Foundation is in keeping with the organization's dedication to being a good corporate citizen. "By supporting The Best Care for Children campaign, Énergir will be helping to improve the health and quality of life of hundreds of children. This initiative speaks to our commitment to giving back and to working with the community to build a better society."
Louise Dery-Goldberg stressed the importance of Énergir's focus on pediatric care in Montreal and throughout province. "With this donation, Énergir will allow young patients at the Montreal Children's Hospital to receive top-quality care in a modern environment equipped with the latest advances in pediatric medicine." Ms. Dery-Goldberg stated that she hopes Énergir's involvement will inspire other business leaders in Quebec to throw their support behind The Best Care for Children campaign.
The construction of the new Montreal Children's Hospital on the Glen Campus will begin in summer 2010 and be ongoing until 2014. Once completed, the facility will provide 154 beds for young patients from across Quebec. The Montreal Children's Hospital Foundation has pledged to raise $100 million to back this ambitious endeavour.
The mission of the Montreal Children's Hospital Foundation is to support excellence in care at the Montreal Children's Hospital of the McGill University Health Centre. This objective is attained by contributing to the advancement of teaching and research and by purchasing cutting-edge medical equipment.
