November 29, 2013 - Press releases
Montreal, November 29, 2013 – Starting on December 1, 2013, Énergir customers' rates will be adjusted following the decision of the Régie de l'énergie on Énergir's request to apply in the interim 2014 rates that were included in its rate application. This change will be in effect until the Régie de l'énergie makes a final decision on Énergir's rate application, which is expected near the end of spring 2014.
Ultimately, depending on the rate category and consumption profile, Énergir customers will start to see variations between -5.2 and 7.4% on their total bill (which includes transportation, load-balancing and inventory services, compression and the cost of the natural gas itself). Énergir customers will receive, with their next bill or through their representative, specific information regarding the rate applicable to them.
It is important to recall that Énergir had to include in its 2014 rate application charges attributable to the prior year, most of which should have been supported to customers as of October 1, 2012. However, instead of receiving an increase at that time, Énergir customers' rates remained unchanged for most of last year. This increase, which was approved by the Régie de l'énergie last July, could not be reflected before August 2013, which resulted in foregone revenues that should be recovered in the rates applicable for 2013-2014. This is why the application to apply interim rates was formulated in such a way as to avoid having a repeat of this situation.Public Affairs and Communications:
