Two Good Reasons for choosing Natural Gas for you home
Montréal, October 1, 2008 – With the approach of winter, Gaz Métro is inviting homeowners who heat their homes with oil to convert their heating system to natural gas. Not only it is cleaner and more economical, but the various rebates and financial assistance available through the energy efficiency programs offered by Gaz Métro make it even more attractive.
GREEN rebate of $1,250 for homeowners
Between now and November 28, homeowners who heat their home with oil can take advantage of the $1,250 “green rebate” to convert their heating system to natural gas. This support is made possible through the Gaz Métro Assistance Account for the Substitution of Pollutant Energy Sources (CASEP).
In addition, when the gas distribution system passes near their home, homeowners may receive up to $3,050 in financial assistance to purchase a natural gas high energy efficiency heating unit to replace their old oil furnace. Homeowners will also economize on operating costs since oil is 38% more expensive than natural gas. So with all the financial assistance that is available, it is advantageous for homeowners who use oil to switch to natural gas rather than any other source of energy.
A CLEAN energy
As well as economizing, homeowners can help the environment. In fact, natural gas is the cleanest fossil energy since it contributes the least to the phenomena of smog, acid rain and global warming. Natural gas appliances produce no soot, dust, black smoke or ash. That is why greenhouse gas emissions can be reduced by 30% when oil is replaced by natural gas.
