Nomination of Louis P. Gignac as chairman of the board of Énergir

Montreal, Monday March 9^th, 2009 – Énergir is glad to announce the nomination of Mr. Louis P. Gignac as chairman of its Board of Directors, a position that was held by Mr. Robert Tessier prior to his departure for the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec.

Mr. Gignac has been a member of the Board of Énergir since 1990 and has been its Lead Director since 2007.  He presides the Corporate Governance Committee and the Human Resources Committee.

From 1986 to 2006, Mr. P. Gignac was President and Chief Executive Officer of the mining firm Cambior. At present, he acts as a management and engineering consultant in the mining sector and as an administrator for various companies.

Mr. P. Gignac’s nomination is effective today.
