President and Chief Executive Officer

Sophie Brochu

Ms. Brochu has been active in the energy industry for 30 years. Graduate in economics from Université Laval, she began her career in 1987 at SOQUIP (Société québécoise d’initiatives pétrolières). In 1997, she joined Énergir, as Vice President, Business Development. After holding various positions in the company, she became President and Chief Executive Officer of Énergir, position she is holding since 2007. Ms. Brochu sits on the Board of Directors of Bank of Montreal, Bell Canada and BCE Inc. Involved with Centraide of Greater Montreal, Ms. Brochu is the Chair of Forces Avenir which promotes students involvement in their communities. She is cofounder of “ruelle de l’avenir”, a project aimed at encouraging students in the Centre-Sud and Hochelaga neighbourhoods of Montréal to remain in school. Finally, she sits on the Board of Directors of La Fondation Lucie et André Chagnon. Ms. Brochu is a member of the Order of Canada.

Senior Vice President, Talents and Governance

Caroll Carle

Mr. Caroll Carle was appointed Senior Vice President, Talents and Governance in January 2017. Previously, he was Vice President Employees and Culture since January 2012 and was given responsibility for Environmental Oversight in November 2012. He joined Énergir in 2007 as Director, Performance Support and Employee Relations. After studying psychology and social communications at the University of Ottawa, he accrued more than 25 years of experience in various executive positions in human resources and labour relations at large companies operating in Canada—specifically Culinar, Noranda, Nabisco, Nav Canada and Sun Media. Mr. Carle has worked in every province, under both federal and provincial jurisdiction. With more than 200 negotiations to his credit, he has extensive expertise in labour relations and in human resources management in areas such as compensation, succession planning, training, recruitment and performance management.

Senior Vice President, Corporate Affairs and Chief Financial Officer

Pierre Despars

Since January 1st, 2017, Mr. Pierre Despars is Senior Vice President, Corporate Affairs and Chief Financial Officer. He was, since February 2010, Executive Vice President, Corporate Affairs and Chief Financial Officer. He is responsible for the company’s financial, corporate and legal activities. He is also responsible for development activities in our gas and electric distribution subsidiaries in the United States as well as information technologies and logistics. Mr. Despars began his career in 1985 as an auditor at KPMG. In 1989, he joined Québecor Printing, where he was Controller and Accounting Director. In 1991, he joined Énergir, where he has held various positions in Accounting, Finance and Regulatory Affairs.
As an executive officer, Mr. Despars sits on the Board of Directors, Audit Committee and Pension Fund Committee. He also sits on the boards of some ofÉnergir’s subsidiaries. Mr. Despars holds a governance certificate from the Directors College; he graduated in accounting from HEC Montréal and holds an MBA from Concordia University. He is a member and Fellow of the Ordre des comptables professionnels agréés du Québec. He is a laureate of the “As de la Finance 2014” award, in the category “Financial Officer of a Major Company”, awarded by FEI – Quebec Chapter, on which he also sits on the Board of Directors.

Senior Vice-president, Risk Management and Internal Audit

Pierre Fortin

Pierre Fortin joined Énergir in September 2015 as Vice President, Risk Management and Internal Audit and was appointed Senior Vice President, Risk Management and Internal Audit on January 1, 2017. He is responsible for maintaining sound risk management practices. Aside from performing internal audit activities, he develops various tools to support decision making and to quantify integrated risks associated with the company's strategic challenges and business plan. He also helps conduct cost/benefit analyses for major investment projects.
He has over 20 years' experience in the energy sector, including more than 15 years in risk management. He held various positions at Hydro-Québec, including that of Senior Director, Risk Analysis and Management from 2007 to 2015. His key achievements include implementing information systems and setting up specialized teams to manage the risks associated with Hydro-Québec Production's energy trading floor, and those related to the regulated divisions. Mr. Fortin also worked at SOQUIP and at Québec's Ministère des Finances.
Mr. Fortin holds a bachelor's degree in economics and an MBA in finance, both from Université Laval. He is a member of the Ordre des comptables professionnels agréés du Québec.

Senior Vice President, operations, Transport and Development of new Energies

Martin Imbleau

Mr. Martin Imbleau has been Senior Vice President, Operations, Transport and Development of new Energies since 2017. He is responsible for identifying and managing strategic business opportunities, as well as new energies. He is also notably responsible for the operations, as well as the gas supply and transport, along with the company’s strategic planning. Mr. Imbleau began his career at Énergir in 1996 as Legal Counsel and went on to hold the positions of Director, Business Development, and Vice President, Business Development, Gas Supply, Transport, Operations, Major Projects and Renewable Energies.
Mr. Imbleau has a master’s degree in law from the Université de Montréal and is a member of the Barreau du Québec. He has authored several works and articles on international human rights law. Currently, he chairs the board of Écotech Québec and sits on the boards of Forces AVENIR, Lawyers Without Borders Canada, the HEC Chair in Energy Sector Management and UQAM’s Raoul-Dandurand Chair in Strategic and Diplomatic Studies.

Senior Vice President, Regulatory, Customers and Communities

Stéphanie Trudeau

Ms. Stéphanie Trudeau is Senior Vice President, Regulatory, Customers and communities at Énergir. When she was appointed Vice President in October 2012, she was given responsibility for Sustainable Development and Public and Governmental Affairs. Marketing and Innovation and Customer Services were added to her responsibilities in the spring of 2013, Regulatory Affairs and Rate Structure in October 2016, and Sales and Sales and Market Development in January 2017. A communications expert and seasoned strategist, she is as comfortable with strategic and political matters as she is with crisis management or risk communication. Previously, Ms. Trudeau was Vice President, Public Affairs on the Quebec team of Labatt Brewing Company Ltd.; Director, Public Affairs at the Société des alcools du Québec (SAQ); and Director, Community Relations, for the Rabaska project.

Ms. Trudeau chairs the board of the Office Québec Monde pour la jeunesse, vice president of the board of the Fédération des chambres de commerce du Québec (FCCQ) and sits on the boards of Gaz Métro Plus, CCUM, and the Conseil patronal de l'environnement du Québec (CPEQ). She is a member of the Québec Minister David Heurtel’s Climate Change Advisory Committee, the Switch Alliance, the Conseil des parrains of the Jeune Chambre de commerce de Montréal (JCCM), and ambassador of La Ruche Montréal, a crowdfunding organization.

Vice President, Construction and Development of emerging markets

Étienne Champagne

Mr. Étienne Champagne started his career at Boralex in 2003 after studies in mechanical engineering at the Université Laval. While with the company, he held the positions of Project Manager, Director of Wind Farm Development, Director of the Seigneurie de Beaupré Wind Farm, and Project Director. In April 2016, he joined Énergir as Senior Director, Development, and was appointed Vice President, Construction and Development of emerging markets in January 2017. Over the years, Mr. Champagne has participated in developing and implementing many natural gas, biomass, and wind energy sites in Canada and in the United States. He has built up extensive experience in acquisitions, commercial negotiations, and project financial and technical planning.
He is a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec and earned an MBA from the Université de Sherbrooke.

Vice President, Finances

Éric Lachance

Mr. Éric Lachance joined Énergir in January 2017. From February 2000 to December 2016, he held various positions at Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec, the last 3 years as Regional Director – Europe within its subsidiary CDPQ Paris where he led the team responsible for managing Caisse’s European portfolio in infrastructure. He represented Caisse as a board member for many portfolio companies such as Fluxys Belgium, Colonial Pipeline, Keolis and Heathrow Airport.
Mr. Lachance holds a degree in business, finance and economics from McGill University and has been a chartered financial analyst since 2000.

Assistant Vice President, Employees and Culture

Jules Langlois

Mr. Jules Langlois joined the Énergir team as Head of Labour Relations in March 2012. In January 2013, he was promoted to Director of Performance Support and Employee Relations. A year later, global compensation management was added to his existing duties. Mr. Langlois is a political science graduate from l’Université de Montréal. He also has a Degree in Human Resource (HR) Management from l’UQAM. Throughout his career, Mr. Langlois has accumulated very nearly thirty years of experience in large-scale company HR and Labour Relations Management. For some twenty years, he held a number of management positions with Québécor and its affiliates. With his vast experience in everything connected to collective labour relations, Mr. Langlois has been actively involved in the renewal of over 150 collective agreements. He has also gained a solid expertise in occupational health and safety management, recruitment and organizational structure development.
Furthermore, Mr. Langlois is a member of CRHA, Québec’s primary reference organization in HR management.

Assistant Vice President, Legal Affairs and Corporate Secretary

Nathalie Longval

Ms. Nathalie Longval has been Assistant Vice President, Legal Affairs and Corporate Secretary since January 1, 2017. She is responsible for the company’s governance files and all the legal aspects of Énergir's activities. Ms. Longval began her career at Énergir in 1989 as legal counsel, before going on to hold various manager and director positions within the company’s Legal Affairs department.
Ms. Longval has been a member of the Barreau du Québec since 1988. Through her 25 years of service at Énergir, she has acquired a broad knowledge of the company and its operations, and has contributed greatly to its growth over time.

Vice President, Sales and Market Development

Renault Lortie

Mr. Renault Lortie has been Vice President, Sales and Market Development since January 2017. He joined Énergir in 2014 as Director, Sales Major Industries and was promoted to Senior Director, Sales and Market Development in 2016. Previously employed by KPMG and SECOR Consulting as Partner in strategic planning, Mr. Lortie is an expert in the energy, mining and forestry sectors. On numerous occasions throughout his career, he has been a facilitator in the development of natural resources and northern Québec.
Mr. Lortie has an MBA from HEC Montréal and is a member of the Barreau du Québec. In 2014, he won the ARISTA Provincial Contest in the Quebec Young Executive category. He is currently a member of the boards of directors of the Montreal Canadian Club and the Quebec Mineral Exploration Association (QMEA) as well as Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Natural Gas Technologies Centre (NGTC).

Vice President, Information Technologies and Logistics

Richard Roy

Mr. Richard Roy joined Énergir in October 2016 as Vice President, Information Technologies and Logistics. Before joining Énergir, Mr. Roy was Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for Quebecor and its subsidiaries for more than 10 years.
He is responsible for managing Information Technologies and Logistics (including goods and services supply chain, contractor contracts, and building and vehicle fleet management), among other duties.
After studying business administration, marketing and informatics at the Université du Québec en Outaouais and the Université du Québec à Montréal, he accumulated more than 20 years of experience in IT and supply management at major companies such as Bell Canada, Fido (Microcell), Rogers and Quebecor.

Vice President, Operations

Stéphane Santerre

Mr. Stéphane Santerre joined Énergir in 2001 as Supervisor of Operations. In 2012, he was made Director, Network Maintenance and Eastern Quebec Business Offices. Following his May 27 2014 nomination to Sales Director, Major Accounts and Datech Group, he was promoted Head of Operations in March 2016. Since January 2017, Mr. Santerre has been named Vice President, Operations; he oversees the full range of operations regarding the network, measurement, engineering, construction, as well as major projects.
Before joining the Énergir team, Mr. Santerre had worked eight years at Alstom, where he held various positions in a crescendo of responsibility, ultimately as Operations Manager at Work Site Erection and After-Sales Services. Mr. Santerre’s credentials are in Mechanical Engineering (1993).
