COVID-19 : Preventive and support measures for our employees, our customers and the public

Énergir is contributing to the collective effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and is taking the directives of public authorities very seriously. We have implemented preventive measures to ensure the health and safety of our employees, customers and business partners, and of the communities we serve.

Our preventive measures

  • Employees who need to travel to our offices, to a construction site or to a customer’s home must answer questions about their health and travel outside the country.
  • We are taking all necessary measures to ensure the safety of our customers and employees. To avoid the risk of contagion, Énergir employees who visit customers wear masks and maintain a two-metre physical distance. If distancing cannot be respected during their visit, employees must wear gloves and safety glasses in addition to the mask.
  • Employees are working from home if their duties permit it, until further notice.
  • Out-of-province business travel and all nonessential meetings and professional activities have been cancelled for all employees.

We invite customers who are experiencing financial difficulties to contact us so that we can assess their situation. Given the high call volume, the response time may be longer than usual. Are you a residential customer who is behind in your payments or unable to pay your account balance by the due date? You may be eligible for our support program for low-income households. We invite you to contact our team so we can look at your situation together and reach a payment agreement that matches your financial situation. To properly assess your file, we will ask that you provide proof of income.

Assistance for the community

Our commitments to all the organizations we support are maintained and we wish to reiterate our support for the community.

In keeping with its values, Énergir answered the community’s call for solidarity by taking the following actions:  
  • Launching a new donation program aimed at our customers: every time someone signs up for electronic billing, Énergir will donate $2 to a community organization.
  • Donating to the Food Banks of Quebec, which supports all Moisson Québec organizations.
  • Contributing to the Centraide of Greater Montreal COVID-19 emergency fund.
  • Providing emergency assistance to local United Way/Centraide offices or to local agencies in each of the regions where Énergir is present.
  • Donating to the Canadian Red Cross to support its activities to prevent or control the spread of COVID-19.
  • Additional funding for the 11 organizations supported by Soupe pour elles.

The Énergir family has also raised more than $144,000 in less than two weeks, which will be donated to the Les Cuisines Solidaires project run by La Tablée des chefs.
This outpouring of generosity arose through personal donations from 500 employees, and through contributions from shareholders, Québec subsidiaries and unions in the Énergir family.
